MY SHAMELESS FAITH

(PART 1)

I wasn’t going to share this so soon but an event just took place that has inspired me to. So in this post I’m going to spice things up a little by explaining the details of this event in the form of a short drama.

(This scene has two major characters, the young evangelist whose name I do not remember and the listener, yours truly.)

Evangelist: (walks into the room) Good evening!

Benahili: (takes her eyes off her laptop screen) Good evening.

Evangelist: (looks around the room for the other occupants) Ah! You’re the only person in the room, it is well.

Benahili: (smiles) apparently.

Evangelist: (goes closer to Benahili’s bed) my name is _______, what’s yours?

Benahili: my name is Faith.

Evangelist: oh wawu! That’s a powerful name! So let me ask you, do you have faith?

Benahili: (more irritated than surprised by her reaction because 90% of the people she introduces herself to as Faith say the same thing.) Faith in what? That’s a very bogus question. You have to be a bit more specific.

Evangelist:  do you have Faith?

Benahili: yes I heard your question and I’m asking you what I’m supposed to have faith in.

Evangelist: it’s a simple question, do you have faith?

Benahili: (well aware of the fact that this girl doesn’t understand what she’s asking) I want to know what you’re asking if I have faith in. Your question is really vague. Are you asking if I have faith in the devil?

Evangelist: ah! God forbid!! I’m a follower of the light.

Benahili: (considering making a game of thrones reference to the god of light but 100% sure that this girl would not know what that is, decides to just play along) oh okay, you mean do I have Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ?

Evangelist: yes that’s what I’ve been trying to say since. Why are you thinking to that side, what kind of mind do you have (already convinced that she’s talking to an unbeliever because she didn’t get a conventional answer) are you a Christian? If so, what church do you attend?

Benahili: yes I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and I attend the Greenhouse Church.

Evangelist: (starts to pour out her rehearsed speech) yes you go to church and you probably read the bible but is your soul saved for eternity?

Benahili: what do you mean by safe for eternity?

Evangelist: you know na, for eternity…

Well this went on and on and back and forth until we eventually got here

Benahili: I am going to read your devotional message paper thing because I respect your courage and boldness but I want you to think about the conversation we just had and learn to be a bit more specific when you’re approaching strangers because you have no idea who they are, what they’ve been through, their beliefs, their background and what have you.

Evangelist: ah no! As soon as I step out of this room I’m going to forget because I don’t keep anything in my heart. I just let it go.

Benahili: but we haven’t quarrelled or fought, we’re just having a very simple conversation about clarity and simplicity.

Evangelist: what course are you studying?

Benahili: an engineering related course.

Evangelist: ah! I thought you were studying law… (Realizes that it’s not an educationally infused problem and quickly assumes it to be a spiritual one) so, do you have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit?

Benahili: lovely…

Well as unnecessary as this encounter was, it just confirmed my thesis of religion unknowingly, unintentionally and sadly becoming one of the major contributors to the deprivation of KNOWLEDGE OF SELF and INDIVIDUALITY in our society. How? You may ask?

This and many more questions will be answered in my next upload on the topic “MY SHAMELESS FAITH

Thanks for reading, please comment below your opinions and suggestions and I’ll definitely read it and get back to you if need be.
